DESCRIPTION:Knowing when to suspend a student can feel tricky. At Harbour\, the staff member witnessing the behavior makes the decision if a behavior is severe enough to suspend a student. The handbook leaves staff a lot of leeway on when a behavior is suspendable based on circumstances that include student understanding. If managing the moment were not enough\, suspending a student often includes "arm chair quarterbacking" from co-workers\, making a difficult situation even harder. Join us for an interactive session about what to consider when deciding if a student should be suspended. We will share some scenarios and take situations from participants as we discuss some practical tips and tricks to help you decide if you should suspend a student and how to navigate the suspension in a way that is productive for the student and the community.
